ATM Mirror and Glass is Westchester County and the Hudson Valley's leading over-head glazing contractor. Extensive training and field experience has us sought out for complex glass sets where safety and structural integrity is crucial. We have furnished and installed some of the largest overhead glazing projects in the Northeast. Our rigging and lifting capabilities have allowed us to successfully install overhead glazing in sizes that have reached 94" x 157" as single pieces. We have frequently been sought out for such projects by contractors and glazing professionals for this unique service. Due to the unique make up of glass at these sizes, the glass is extremely heavy and should only be manipulated by those who are specially trained for such sets.
Glass Canopys And Awnings
The CRL Glass Awning Support System will give any entrance an uncomplicated, graceful look. With the use of tempered laminated glass you can add a range of glass colors, textures, and special effects not available with typical monolithic glass. This complements and enhances the design of any building. All fittings are stainless in construction. Glass make up is typically 1/2” tempered laminated.
What is over head glass and glazing? Just what the name suggests. It is glass that is installed in an area that is “over head”, such as skylite systems, glass canopies, glass awnings and glass ceiling structures. What makes these glass sets unique is that they are required to have the glass manufactured with very specific make-ups to ensure safety and ability to withstand environmental elements, such as snow loads, heavy winds and the like. In addition, the method in which the glass is installed is also equally critical. Failure to do either of the above can result in serious injury and possibly death. For this reason, our staff who installs overhead glazing has received additional training for these types of installations.
For glass that’s more than glass…Originally created for specialty markets such as high-security glazing and hurricane windows,DuPontTM SentryGlas® glass laminating interlayers now are being specified wherever architects or engineers need a material that can make a difference in glass performance. 5 times tougher,up to 100 times stiffer, stronger and more rigid than conventional laminating materials, SentryGlas® interlayers help create safety glass that protects against bigger storms, larger impacts and more powerful blasts. They become an engineered component within the glass, holding more weight, so the glass can serve as a more active structural element in the building envelope, increasing framing system design freedom.
All this, plus SentryGlas® improves long-term weather resistance of laminated glass systems. SentryGlas® structural interlayer performance helps architects and glazed building system manufacturers meet society’s need for greater security, energy efficiency, noise reduction, healthful living, safety and maintenance ease. It helps builders do more with less, creating innovative new spaces, while providing greater protection for occupants. ATM uses DuPont SentryGlas in all structurally glazed applications where safety and structural security of the glass is a must.
Contractor/Homeowner Tip: Over head glazing requires extensive training and additional education for the technician. This is not an application that should be attempted by an inexperienced glazing construction firm. Details such as rigging and code requirements need to be considered. A faulty installation or improper handling puts others at risk for injury. Be weary of pricing that comes in seemingly discounted. The field technician performing this type of glass install will have had many years field experience combined with additional training. These services are not discounted.
Syklite systems can help bring natural sunlight into any home or business. Available with extensive glazing options, including insulated glass, these system are truly spectacular.
