 Architectural Glass F.A.Q.

Q: I wanted to see your samples of patterned glass, do you provide samples?

A: We have many specialty patterns and textures available-all of our samples are available for purchase.  Unfortunatley due to the specialty nature of this product and limited availability, free samples are not available.  We do have samples of  the glass shown on our site at our facility which is open Monday-Friday, 9am-4:30pm.  We are happy to meet with clients and discuss options.  We are also happy to bring samples with us when visiting your home or jobsite.

Q: I am working on a large project, do you provide consultations?

A: We provide jobsite consultations for projects of various nature- for both commercial and residential projects. We do not provide any engineering reports or structural testing- if your project requires engineer reports you will need to employ the services of an engineer.  Shop drawings are available for all projects.  We are happy to provide site unseen pricing free of charge ; proper CAD drawings and/or blue prints are required.  For large, multi-phased projects - pre contract field consultations typically require a retainage to be paid by the client prior to meeting in the field; this amount is deducted from the original contract amount at time of completion.

for smaller scalled projects within our local area, field visits are free of charge. Estimating consultations outside of our local area may incur estimating charge and/or project cost minimums- please call for details

Q: I have been told that my railings need to be built to height required by code- what does this mean?

A: Every juristiction has code requirements for heights of railings for safety reasons-this height can vary from juristiction to juristiction.   It is the responsibility of the property owner or general contractor to consult the local building inspector to find out this information.  It is extreamly important the proper information is provided as this can result in railings not meeting local building codes and may have to be removed and reinstalled to meet requirements.

Q: I am doing a do-it-yourself  renovation for my personal home, I want to use alot of glass in my project (shelving,  counter top and mirrors)...what information do you need when I order the glass?

A: We welcome do-it-yourself clients, but we do want to stress the fact that glass is much different than other building materials and should be considered carefully when being approached by an inexperienced glass handeler.  Glass can be extreamly dangerous; depending on how you are planning to use the glass it may need to meet building codes and/or governmental safety codes- remember this is for your safety- glass which is not installed properly or is not engineered for a particular application can be dangerous and even fatal.  There are also limitations with glass that are much different than other building products, it cannot be "bent" to fit into an opening, nor can it easily be "cut down" if too big.  Again, we welcome any clients who wish to do a project themselves; if we feel a project  is being installed in a fashion that could be harmful to the purchaser or to others we will refuse to sell the product.
